Wings of Refuge has a long-term residential program in Iowa for adult women (18 and older) who are survivors of domestic sex trafficking or commercial exploitation that provides holistic programming specific to each

individual based on their physical, emotional, relational, and/or spiritual healing needs.

Please review the following intake considerations, application process, and FAQs. If you decide our program

would be a good fit for you, your client, or your loved one, complete the Admissions Application.

WINGS OF REFUGE LONG TERM RESTORATION ADMISSIONS:

Application process may take up to 3 weeks

INTAKE CONSIDERATIONS:

  • 18 years of age or older (no children)

  • A survivor of sex trafficking or commercial exploitation

  • A U.S. Citizen or a foreign national who speaks English

  • Biologically female

  • Free of drugs and/or alcohol withdrawals for 30 days

  • Individuals who are not a threat to self or others

  • Ready for change and healing

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the program? Wings of Refuge has a long-term restoration home. Length of stay varies per individual.

 

What does the program cost? There are no costs to the participant to be a part of the restoration program.

How many women live at Wings of Refuge? Up to five women can live at the Wings of Refuge restoration home at one time and up to five women can live at the TLC.

Can I have visitors while in the program? We focus on your own needs first. After the first 30 days, your individual goals will determine visits with loved ones.

Can I have my cell phone at Wings of Refuge? We ask that your cell phone be put away for your safety and the safety of others in our home. Supervised phone calls to your safe contacts can be made from the house phone. The frequency and duration of those calls will be determined by your individual goals. There will be no access to social media during your stay.

Will transportation be accessible? Yes, we will provide you with transportation while you are in our home.

 

Can I smoke in the program? Yes, you can have smoking privileges in designated areas outside of the home.

Can I use drugs & alcohol while in the program? Wings of Refuge is a drug & alcohol free program. We do not allow the use of drugs or alcohol while you are a part of the program.

When did the trafficking happen? Whether this happened today or ten years ago, you are welcome here.

Are children allowed in the program? No, we can refer you to a similar program that allows children. If you are a mom, this is a chance to focus on your healing so that you can be a better support for your child.

We are pleased that you are considering joining the Wings of Refuge community, a voluntary faith-based program for individuals who have the desire and motivation to make a change in their lives. Wings of Refuge is a residential program in central Iowa for women who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation. Housing is provided for long-term restoration and services include individual and group counseling, recovery support, life skills training, education and vocational training, and employment. Please review the intake considerations and fill out the admissions application so placement can be handled in a timely manner.
